A compact city walk
Try Kushida Shrine, the Kawabata area and a meal at Canal City.
Compare Ohori Park, Kushida Shrine, Fukuoka Tower, Dazaifu and Marine World. Separate easy city stops from outings that need more travel time to build a comfortable first visit.
Official information reviewedStart with Kushida Shrine and Canal City near Hakata, or Ohori Park west of Tenjin. Pair Fukuoka Tower with the Momochi waterfront. We suggest leaving at least half a day each for Dazaifu and Marine World. Routes are JapanPinโs editorial suggestions; visitor details were checked against official sources.
Try Kushida Shrine, the Kawabata area and a meal at Canal City.
Ohori Park and Fukuoka Tower are in different areas. Allow time for transport and a break between walks.
For Marine World, plan around trains and show times. Keep a shorter indoor outing as an alternative.
The park lists about seven minutes on foot from Ohorikoen or Tojinmachi on the Airport Line. Follow the lakeside walking path and locate the east or west playground if travelling with children. The Japanese garden and art museum are separate facilities with their own hours and admission. Follow the designated walking paths, including with a stroller.
Check official details โDazaifu is a separate city. From Tenjin, the official route uses Nishitetsu trains with a change at Nishitetsu-Futsukaichi for the Dazaifu Line; do not confuse it with JR Futsukaichi. Leave half a day for the shrine and approach street. Check opening and exhibition details separately if adding nearby Kyushu National Museum.

Pair it with Momochiโs waterfront, checking sunset, weather and the return journey. Deck admission and viewing the exterior illumination are separate.
Check official details โThe shrine is closely associated with Hakata Gion Yamakasa and fits a walk around Kawabata and Canal City. Distinguish Kushida-jinja-mae from Nakasu-Kawabata when choosing your station. Follow on-site guidance for worship and photography. If you want to see the festival, check that yearโs schedule and viewing arrangements separately.
Check official details โThe official access guide lists about ten minutes on foot from Hakata Station or three minutes from Kushida-jinja-mae on the Nanakuma Line. Find your shop or restaurantโs building and floor, and check the dateโs event programme for fountain shows. Shops, dining and performances keep different hours; not every connection between buildings is indoors.

Regular adult admission is ยฅ2,500; check the official age bands for children. Show schedules and seasonal closing times vary, so plan your return train as well. Check sailing notices if travelling by boat.
Check official details โJapanPin suggestions: โ Kushida Shrine โ Kawabata โ a Canal City meal; โก Ohori Park โ food and shopping in Tenjin; โข Momochi waterfront โ Fukuoka Tower. Give Dazaifu and Marine World their own outings, including travel. Choose one or two areas to suit the weather and your hotel rather than combining every route in a day.
From a Hakata hotel, start with Kushida Shrine and Canal City; from Tenjin, consider Ohori Park and the Tenjin area. Keep arrival day to a short city outing.
They involve journeys in different directions. We suggest separate outings so you have time for the visit and transfers.
Check the official events page for the programme on your visit date. Weather and operational changes can affect shows, so mall opening hours alone are not enough.
Fit ramen, motsunabe or yatai into your chosen area.
Plan baby care, stroller use and rainy-day alternatives.
Compare travel and booking needs before adding a hot-spring trip.
Check whether an offer covers the Fukuoka product you want.
