Use Fukuoka’s monthly climate averages to plan what to pack and where to go. Compare summer heat, autumn layers, indoor outings and the official forecasts to check before travelling.

FIRST QUESTION

Are monthly averages enough to plan my Fukuoka trip?

Monthly normals help with packing and seasonal comparisons; they do not predict your travel dates. Before leaving, check temperatures, rain, wind and warnings, plus operator notices for airport journeys or day trips to Yufuin and Beppu.

Choose your next stop for the weather

Spring and autumn: pack adjustable layers

Packing suggestion: bring a removable outer layer and consider how much time you will spend outdoors early and late in the day. Leave room for a break between long walks and meal reservations. Monthly temperatures do not establish blossom or autumn-leaf dates.

Summer: break up long outdoor walks

Packing suggestion: bring light clothing, a sun hat and rain gear. Adjust outdoor stops such as Ohori Park to the daily forecast and consider an indoor meal or visit in the middle of the day. Do not apply Fukuoka city averages directly to Yufuin or Beppu.

Winter: plan layers for indoor and outdoor stops

Packing suggestion: bring a warm coat and layers, taking account of windy outdoor queues and evening walks. For Yufuin, Beppu or mountain areas, check the destination forecast and road or railway notices separately.

How should I change my plans when it rains?

Planning suggestion: pair one indoor attraction near your hotel with a meal. Choosing Canal City or Tenjin’s underground shopping area does not make every connection from your hotel or station covered. With children, check closing days, activity reservations and stroller access.

What to check when heavy rain or strong wind is forecast

  1. Check the destination forecast and warnings from JMA and follow local authority instructions.
  2. Check your airline and the railway or bus operator separately. A weather forecast does not determine whether a service will run.
  3. If services are suspended or authorities advise limiting travel, check what to do from your accommodation rather than automatically heading to an indoor attraction.
