FIRST QUESTION

Can I simply sit down at a Fukuoka yatai?

Ask staff about your party size and available seats first. Check menu prices and payment before ordering. With limited seating, confirm arrangements for larger parties or children.

Choose the food style first

  1. Ramen or udon: choose a meal stop, then check branch-specific menus, hours and queue entry. Match the exact branch.
  2. Hotpot such as motsunabe: check minimum orders, total meal costs and booking cancellation terms.
  3. Yatai: keep it as one dinner option and check weather, opening and seats. Ask about ordering rules if not drinking alcohol or visiting with children.

Your first yatai visit

  1. Ask staff about party size, seats and where to queue.
  2. Read prices before ordering food/drinks; ask about allergies and ingredients first.
  3. Bring cash and confirm that stall’s payment methods; do not assume cards are accepted everywhere.
  4. Pay after the meal and make space for the next guests. Do not assume takeaway or an extended stay is offered.

Choose an alternative for queues or rain

Keep a checked sit-down restaurant in Hakata or Tenjin as a fallback. Set your waiting limit after allowing for airport return or hotel check-in. Ratings and review counts do not guarantee current opening or a short queue.
