Where should I start?
Use storage if you need your bag back at the same place in a few hours. Consider same-day delivery for an evening hotel arrival only after checking the destination and cutoff. For another city, obtain a delivery date. Airport collection for your flight has a separate process.
Compare the options for your trip
Afternoon arrival; you need the bag tonight
Allow for immigration and baggage reclaim before comparing your arrival with the service cutoff. If same-day delivery is unavailable, we suggest dropping bags at your hotel or using storage on your return route.
Choose between collecting stored bags yourself and having them sent to the airport. Same-day airport delivery requires a specifically eligible service. Check its airport, flight and cutoff conditions; standard airport forwarding is not a same-day promise.
Ask for an arrival estimate using the origin, acceptance time and destination postcode. Get the receiving hotelโs agreement first. We suggest keeping clothes, toiletries and childrenโs essentials in a small bag for the time without your suitcase.
Yamato lists same-day drop-off by 11:00 at Haneda, 10:30 at Narita T1/T2 and 09:50 at T3. Confirm the destination and estimated delivery time. A 10:20 landing does not mean you can reach a 10:30 cutoff.
Narita lists Sagawa same-day hotel delivery at T1/T2 until 14:00, limited to ten Tokyo wards and selected Urayasu hotels. A later cutoff only helps if your hotel qualifies. Otherwise compare storage, taking the bag yourself or a later delivery.
Osaka: check collection if departing from Kansai T2
Kansai lists airport-forwarded baggage collection on T1โs fourth floor and says there is no collection counter for this service in T2. For a T2 flight, allow for the terminal transfer after collection. For delivery after arrival, check the individual services on T1โs first floor.
DELIBAG lists airport acceptance from 08:00โ15:00 and hotel arrival from 15:30โ19:00 for hotels in Fukuokaโs Hakata and Chuo wards. Unstaffed hotels and guesthouses require an inquiry. Do not extend those conditions to Yufuin or Beppu; ask about a suitable service for that address.
New Chitose lists Skyporter on domestic 1F for participating hotels in Sapporoโs Chuo ward, with hotel-delivery acceptance from 08:00โ14:30. Airport collection uses a separate window. International arrivals should allow time to reach that counter or compare the separate international-terminal providers.
Yamatoโs standard Airport TA-Q-BIN requires drop-off two days before departure, or three in some areas, by the counterโs sending deadline. Specify your departure airport and terminal, and keep the senderโs receipt for collection. For a flight tomorrow, check an eligible express option or carry the bag yourself.
โI am checking in on [date] under [booking name]. May I send [number] suitcases with [carrier] before arrival? Please confirm the delivery address and the dates and hours when staff can receive them.โ This is our suggested message. Match the hotelโs reply to the carrierโs delivery estimate before sending.
Keep essentials with you and plan for delays
Our packing suggestion: keep your passport, wallet, phone, essential medicines, nappies and a change of clothes with you. Save the tracking number and hotel contact. If the delivery window passes, ask the carrier for an update. If you move on tomorrow, ask whether redirection is possible before arranging another shipment.
Questions before you go
Does an open counter mean same-day delivery is available?
No. Counter opening hours and same-day acceptance cutoffs differ. Give your drop-off time, destination and required collection time when asking.
Check with both the carrier and the property. Yamatoโs Tokyo airport guidance excludes properties without someone to accept bags and suggests a sales-office pickup instead. Check that officeโs collection hours.
Compare the total for your bag sizes and quantity, plus the cost and time of returning to collect them. Delivery varies by destination, service and supplements; there is no single nationwide price.
