A service without visitor accounts
JapanPin provides travel information without visitor registration, login, payments or an inquiry form. When you filter listings by date, area or visit requirements, your selections may be included in the page address and sent to the server. We do not provide visitor accounts or store personal travel histories on our server.
Food and sight search terms are included in the page address and sent to the server to display matching guides. We do not create a separate search-history database or send search terms and filter values to Google Analytics. Sharing a search URL also shares the search terms.
Connection information may be processed when pages and photos load. You can manage browsing history and cached files in your browser settings.
Travel information saved in this browser
When you press “Save,” we store up to 100 article identifiers in this browser’s local storage (localStorage) under japanpin-saved-v1. We do not send the saved list to our server or Google Analytics. This feature does not store your name, current location or travel itinerary. Saving and removing items works independently of your analytics consent choice.
Removing a saved item or clearing the browser’s site data deletes the corresponding saved information. We do not set a separate expiration period, and the list does not automatically sync across devices. You may lose the list when you close a private browsing session or clear site data. Browser policies may also delete it sooner.
Inquiries and contact information
When you email us, the operator receives your email address, any name and message you provide, and attachments. We use them as needed to answer your inquiry, correct travel information and check photo rights. You do not need to include passport numbers, national identification numbers or payment details.
Inquiry emails are forwarded through Cloudflare Email Routing to the operator’s NAVER mailbox. The operator reads and answers inquiries from that mailbox.
We do not use inquiries to build an advertising mailing list. If we publish an inquiry example, we remove identifying information or seek separate consent.
Keeping and deleting inquiry records
We keep emails as needed to answer inquiries, correct information and check rights. Once processing is complete, we delete personal information and attachments that are no longer needed without delay. If records are needed for an ongoing dispute or required by law, we keep only the necessary material separately and delete it when the dispute is resolved or the required retention period ends.
The operator checks and deletes received and sent emails, attachments and separately downloaded copies, and empties the trash. Backup and recovery copies held by the email service may be handled separately under the provider’s policies.
Requests about your personal information
You can request access to, correction or deletion of your inquiry, suspension of processing, or withdrawal of consent by emailing contact@japanpin.com. We verify your identity as necessary to handle the request. See our contact and corrections page for what to include.
Visitor analytics
We load the Google Analytics 4 tag only after you consent to visitor analytics, to understand how travel information is used and improve pages and links. We do not newly load the tag before consent or while analytics is declined. Admin pages are excluded from measurement.
Information processed
We send page paths, titles and referral sources, along with the type of click and content identifier for detail pages, official information, offers, directions and travel map pins. We remove query parameters and fragments from page addresses, and reduce external referral addresses to their domain. We do not send inquiry messages, email addresses or complete external link addresses as analytics fields. The city value attached to content is Osaka; it does not represent the visitor’s actual location.
The Google tag may also process cookie-based user and session identifiers, basic events such as first visits, session starts and engagement time, and basic browser, device-type and language information. Your IP address is transmitted to Google during the connection and may be used to determine an approximate region, such as a country, or detect spam. See Google’s information about data collection, automatically collected events and IP address processing.
Enhanced measurement, Google signals, user-provided data collection and advertising personalization are disabled. We do not link a Google Ads account, and analytics consent is not used as advertising consent.
Granular location and device data collection is also disabled. Google’s setting stops collection of details such as city, device brand and model, and screen resolution; it does not exclude all country-level location or basic browser and device information. See Google’s granular location and device data settings.
Overseas processing and retention
- Recipient and purpose: Google LLC processes the information above to provide and operate its analytics service. Privacy inquiries to Google can be sent to googlekrsupport@google.com, or made using the contact information in Google’s privacy policy.
- Processing countries: the United States and countries where Google and its subprocessors operate processing facilities. Not all data is processed in a single country. See the Google data processing terms and data center locations.
- When and how information is transferred: while you have consented to analytics, the Google tag in your browser sends information over HTTPS when you view pages or click measured links. The basic events described above may also be sent while the tag is active.
- Retention: user-level and event-level data retention is set to two months, with the option to reset user-data retention on new activity turned off. Expired data is deleted through Google’s monthly deletion process. This setting differs from the retention of standard aggregate reports or browser cookies. See Google’s data retention guide.
Cookies and your consent choice
Analytics cookies that distinguish users and sessions use the names _ga and names beginning with _ga_. We use Google’s current default two-year expiration, renewed when you return. Browser restrictions may cause them to expire sooner. See Google’s analytics cookie guide.
Your allow or decline choice is saved in this browser’s local storage under analytics-choice. The site does not set a separate expiration period. It remains until you reset the choice below or clear the browser’s site data, though browser policies may delete it sooner.
Declining and withdrawing consent
Analytics and the associated overseas transfers are optional. Choose “Decline” in the consent banner to decline. You can still use travel information and official links. “Reset analytics choice” on this page stops future measurement and lets you choose again in the banner. Measurement does not resume after a reset unless you allow it again.
Resetting your choice does not delete analytics data already sent or analytics cookies remaining in your browser. You can delete cookies in your browser’s site-data settings. Send analytics access or deletion requests to contact@japanpin.com. We handle requests to the extent that we can identify the relevant data; it may not be possible to separate and delete aggregate data that is not linked to a particular person.
Site delivery and connection security
We use Cloudflare to deliver the site, articles and photos. When you open a page, Cloudflare may process your IP address, device and system information, and request information needed for site delivery, security and error investigation. See the Cloudflare privacy policy for details.
The site uses HTTPS, and admin access is restricted to approved accounts.
Web fonts and external services
We load web fonts from Google Fonts. These requests may transmit your IP address and browser and request information to Google. Connections needed to display fonts are separate from analytics consent. Information may be processed overseas depending on the provider’s server locations.
Interactive travel map
When the map is displayed, your browser requests map tiles, styles and fonts from OpenFreeMap. These connections transmit your IP address and browser and request information to the provider and its delivery services. Requests reflect the map area being viewed, and information may be processed overseas. Map delivery works separately from optional Google Analytics consent.
OpenFreeMap states that it does not use cookies or tracking technologies and does not normally record IP addresses in server logs; it may temporarily record them during security incidents. See the OpenFreeMap privacy policy.
JapanPin does not request your device’s location for this map. We do not send the map center, coordinates, visible map area or filter text to Google Analytics. With analytics consent, a map pin click sends the article identifier and the sanitized page information described above. The map uses OpenStreetMap data; see our map sources.
Admin login
The admin area is protected by Cloudflare Access. It checks the administrator’s email address at login and uses cookies to maintain the login session. Login attempts may generate records containing an email address, IP address, time and access decision. See Cloudflare’s authentication log documentation.
We store edit times and the editing administrator’s email address in operational records so that changes can be reviewed and restored.
When you follow external links
Official information, booking and map links take you to the relevant provider. Personal information, reservations and payment details you enter there are subject to that provider’s policies.
Advertising and affiliate links
We do not currently run Google AdSense advertising scripts or paid features. Before adding features that generate advertising or affiliate revenue, we will check the providers involved, how they process information and whether they use cookies, and update this policy and the relevant notices.
