Should I fit every nearby day trip into three days?
This editorial starter plan focuses on the city. If a side trip is your priority, replace the full second day and check its transport, bookings and return separately. First compare a plan without long transfers on arrival or departure day.

Ohori · park walk
Ohori Park
大濠公園
An option for adjusting a lakeside walk to your energy. Treat the Japanese garden and museum as separate visits from the park walk.
Access & planning
Official guidance: about seven minutes from Ohorikoen or Tojinmachi on the Airport Line. Check the park entrance you need.
Booking & visit checks
Walking, jogging and cycling paths are separated. Shorten the walk for weather/energy and check hours/fees for separate facilities.
Choose airport transport and ask the hotel about bag storage, separately from room access.
If time remains, choose Kushida Shrine and a nearby walk, checking visiting times and walking access.
Choose a shop or meal at Canal City, then return to your hotel. Skip the walk after a late flight.
Day 2 · Ohori Park → Tenjin → dinner
Walk a manageable section of Ohori Park in the morning. If adding the garden or museum, check each venue’s admission and closures.
Limit the afternoon to selected Tenjin shops and one break to reduce transfers.
Choose one restaurant or a yatai for dinner. Switch to a restaurant if stalls are closed or full, rather than committing to two dinners.
Day 3 · checkout → short shopping stop → airport
Confirm hotel bag storage and collection limits, then set your return departure time.
From a Hakata hotel, keep one meal or shopping stop near the station; substitute Tenjin surroundings for a Tenjin hotel.
Collect bags and reach the actual flight terminal, allowing for airline deadlines and transfers without adding another sight.
Adjust for rain, children or an early flight
In heavy rain, shorten the park walk and focus on chosen shops or meals. With children or older travellers, plan lifts, toilets and seated breaks first. For a morning flight, remove day-three sightseeing. This sequence is not a timetable guaranteeing hours or availability.
