Should I shop in Tenjin or Hakata?
Start with Tenjin for fashion, accessories and underground walking; consider Hakata for gifts before or after a station journey. Pair Canal City with Old Town, and allow a separate block of time for LaLaport and Gundam.

Choose it for comparing fashion, accessories and cosmetics in one area. Standard shop hours are 10:00–20:00 and restaurants 10:00–21:00, with individual exceptions.
Access & route
Use Tenjin or Tenjin-minami Station and check the entrance and numbered block for your shop.
Before visiting
Do not assume the whole route to your hotel is indoors. Check tax-free eligibility with each participating shop.
Consider a separate half day for the shopping complex and life-size ν Gundam. The official city route also introduces local stops such as Fukutaro’s factory shop.
Access & route
Address: 6-23-1 Naka, Hakata-ku. Treat it separately from central Hakata/Tenjin shopping and check access from your starting point.
Before visiting
Check Gundam performance and facility notices for your date. Factory shops and bakeries nearby have different closing days.
Separate shelf-stable sweets from chilled mentaiko. Check storage instructions, expiry dates and your destination’s import rules before choosing quantities.
Tax-free treatment is not automatic for every shop or product. Check eligibility, documents, counter location, cut-off times and fees with the shop before purchase.
Set a budget, quantity and packing allowance, then compare the weight of food gifts, accessories and pottery. JapanPin does not guarantee a shop’s lowest price or stock.
Tenjin: select your target shops in Chikagai first, then add a meal and break. Check any above-ground sections even on a rainy-day route.
Hakata: compare station-building gifts, then continue to Canal City and a meal. On departure day, secure airport transfer time before allocating shopping time.
