If you stay in Hakata, eat in or around the station before heading to the Hakata Exit plaza. It is on the opposite side from the Chikushi Exit, so agree on an exit name when meeting others.
In Tenjin, combine shopping with the square west of City Hall. The Tenjin market is closed on 28–29 November; consider a different outing or the Hakata venue on those dates.
Give one market enough time instead of rushing between both in one evening. If you also want to visit a yatai stall, plan a separate meal option around your child’s mealtime and possible queues.
Prepare for a visit with children
Free admission does not include food. Do not assume a suitable children’s meal or a seat will be available immediately. Eating first can make the market visit more relaxed.
Use station or department-store toilets and changing facilities before going outside. Check floor locations and hours through our family guide and the venue’s official information.
On rainy days, focus on indoor shopping around Hakata Station or Tenjin. Underground passages may not cover the whole route to the market; bring an umbrella or stroller rain cover.
Do Hakata and Tenjin markets have the same closures?
No. Tenjin has announced closures on 28–29 November 2026. Check its schedule separately from Hakata’s.
Does selecting a date confirm an event is open?
No. It compares published dates and closures only. It does not check same-day cancellations, weather, crowds or opening hours; check official notices before leaving.
What should I prepare for an evening visit with children?
Choose your return station and an indoor break location, then plan meals and toilet stops. Pack warm layers and spare clothing; check each venue’s nursing-room and stroller-loan rules.
How is information labelled after the season?
This guide covers winter 2026–2027. After 31 March 2027 it is labelled as a past-season guide, not next season’s schedule. Recheck official sources for changes since our review date.
