Where to stay in Tokyo with kids: airports, strollers & Disney
Compare Ueno, Asakusa, Tokyo Station/Nihombashi, Shinagawa, Shinjuku and the Disney area by airport journeys, lift access, room capacity and child charges before booking.

Where should I start?
Start with your airport and number of Disney days, then shortlist two areas. For Narita, compare the Skyliner to Ueno with NโEX services to major stations; for Haneda, compare Keikyu routes via Shinagawa. If Disney is the focus, consider Maihama or Shin-Urayasu in Chiba, accounting for journeys into central Tokyo. The area choices below are JapanPin editorial suggestions.
Six areas to compare for a family stay
These editorial area suggestions use official transport information. This is not a hotel ranking or live price comparison; journeys vary by address and exit even within one area.
On a small screen, scroll the table horizontally.
Shortlist two areas around your airport, sightseeing and Disney plans.
Area
When to consider it
Transport to check
Before booking
Ueno
For Narita access and plans around Ueno
Map the final walk/transfer from Keisei-Ueno after the Skyliner
JR Ueno and Keisei-Ueno do not share a single gate. Check the hotel-side exit and crossings.
Asakusa
For days centred on Sensoji and traditional streets
Choose the actual line, such as Ginza, Toei Asakusa or Tobu
Travel from the Ueno airport-train arrival is additional. Match the operator and exit to the hotel address.
Tokyo Station / Nihombashi
For central sights plus rail journeys to other cities
Compare airport arrivals and Maihama connections from the hotel address
This is a broad area. A hotel name containing Tokyo Station does not ensure a direct connection; check exits and platform walks.
Shinagawa
When Haneda access and handling luggage are priorities
Check Keikyu/JR direction and the exit on the hotel side
Include the final walk, slopes and check-in time, not just train time.
Shinjuku
When Shinjuku and western Tokyo dominate your plans
Check the selected NโEX service or another airport route
Platform and exit walks can be substantial. Compare journeys to eastern Tokyo and Disney too.
Maihama / Shin-Urayasu
For consecutive Disney days or a nearby park base
Compare the two stations, hotel shuttle, Resort Line and final walk separately
These are different stations in Chiba. Shuttle service, breakfast and park benefits are hotel-specific.
Compare the options for your trip
Narita arrival and eastern Tokyo
Compare Skyliner arrivals at Keisei-Ueno or Nippori with the final journey to your hotel. Ueno and Asakusa involve different transfers and walks. An airport trainโs destination does not mean it runs straight to your accommodation.
Compare a Keikyu route via Shinagawa against the hotel address. Include your terminal, train destination, station exit and final walk; not every Shinagawa hotel has the same journey.
Compare Maihama/Shin-Urayasu with a central Tokyo base. For a hotel shuttle, check stops, booking, stroller rules and the last departure. Not every nearby hotel offers a shuttle or Disney hotel benefits.
Map terminal โ rail or bus arrival โ lift exit โ hotel entrance. Include stroller and luggage handling, gates and waiting rather than relying on an adultโs fastest walking time. For a late arrival, check the check-in deadline and final transport first. A convenient airport base is not automatically the best base for every sightseeing day.
The lift exit matters more than a five-minute walk claim
Tokyo Metroโs accessibility search distinguishes routes linking street, gate and platform from individual lifts. A station with a lift does not guarantee a lift at the exit nearest your hotel. Trace the route from your actual platform and use the relevant operatorโs map for JR, Toei or other lines. Check steps at the hotel entrance and stroller storage too.
Choose differently for one Disney day or consecutive visits
For one park day, first compare a return trip from a city base to Maihama. For consecutive visits, compare a nearby stay against luggage-transfer costs. The official guide gives about five minutes on foot from Maihama to Disneyland and a Resort Line option for DisneySea; these are not hotel-to-park journey times. Leave room for checkout, luggage storage and check-in when changing hotels.
Bed-sharing and a separate child bed are different
Enter every childโs age and check room capacity, bed count and bed-sharing rules. For example, MIMARUโs official FAQ allows up to two children aged six or under at check-in to share with an adult without counting towards adult capacity. That is not a rule for other hotels. Check breakfast, extra bedding, taxes and the total for your selected rate plan.
Ask the hotel to confirm cot, bed-guard or adjacent-room requests and any age or size conditions. MIMARU also notes limited cot and bed-guard availability. A hotel advertising kitchens or laundry does not mean every room contains those facilities. Before booking, check stroller space, bathroom layout, baby-food storage/heating and cancellation terms.
Our suggested sequence: โ shortlist two areas around your airport journey; โก check the lift route and entrance; โข compare totals for identical dates, child ages, bedding, breakfast and cancellation terms; โฃ check the journey back from Disney or your main sightseeing day. An area name does not establish the lowest price, quietness, safety or room availability.
Which area is best for a first Tokyo trip with a baby?
There is no single best area for everyone. Start with Narita or Haneda and your number of Disney days, shortlist two areas from the table and compare the full hotel journey and room terms.
Does a station lift mean an easy stroller route to the hotel?
Not necessarily. Check the links between your platform, gate and street exit, followed by the final walk to the hotel.
No. Compare a city-based day trip with a nearby stay, accounting for consecutive visits, breaks, city sightseeing and actual train or shuttle arrangements.
