Where should I start?

Our starting plan is Kiyosumi-Shirakawa Station โ†’ garden โ†’ coffee or a meal โ†’ return. Add at most one museum and keep cafรฉ stops flexible rather than treating several shops as fixed appointments.

A shorter walk

Pair the garden with one break before moving to another neighbourhood.

An art-focused day

Choose your exhibition first, then place the garden and coffee around it. Check closure dates before fixing the route.

Choose between gardens, coffee and contemporary art

Tokyoโ€™s official guide highlights the neighbourhoodโ€™s garden, coffee shops and contemporary art. Choose one priority before visiting. Set a return time so you can shorten other stops if a cafรฉ queue or exhibition takes longer than expected.

Garden admission and closing time

Standard admission is ยฅ150, or ยฅ70 for visitors aged 65+, with free entry through elementary-school age. Regular hours are 09:00โ€“17:00, last entry 16:30; it closes December 29โ€“January 1. Do not let an early cafรฉ stop make you miss garden admission.

Access on the Hanzomon and Oedo lines

Kiyosumi-Shirakawa is served by the Tokyo Metro Hanzomon and Toei Oedo lines. JNTO gives about five minutes on foot to the garden. With a stroller, check the accessible station exit and garden entrance separately, then add any walk to a cafรฉ.

Treat the stepping stones as optional

The garden includes pond-side stones and stepping-stone sections. With children or a stroller, do not make crossing them essential: ask staff about a suitable route. After rain, watch your footing and avoid placing children close to the water for photographs.

Check each cafรฉ and museum separately

Do not assume every cafรฉ accepts strollers or provides high chairs or nursing facilities. Ask your chosen shop and keep an alternative rest stop. If adding the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, check exhibitions, closures and tickets with the operator before allowing extra travel time.

Questions before you go

Is Kiyosumi Garden free?

Standard admission is ยฅ150; children through elementary-school age enter free.

What fits a shorter visit?

We suggest the garden plus one meal or cafรฉ stop.

Do I need to use the stepping stones with a stroller?

Keep that section optional and ask staff for a suitable route.

Does every cafรฉ have high chairs?

There is no verified area-wide guarantee. Ask the individual shop.

Should I keep the same plan in heavy rain?

We suggest shortening outdoor walking and confirming an indoor destination is open first.
