How does this fit your day?

Consider a short stop during a city-centre outing. This is a historic building with exhibits, rather than an observation tower. Separate an exterior stop from paid entry, arriving before the 17:00 last admission if going inside.

Getting there, hours and tickets

札幌市時計台 · 札幌市中央区北1条西2丁目

Getting there

Official guidance gives about ten minutes from JR Sapporo’s south exit or five from Odori’s city-hall-side exit. Allow extra time for snow, crossings and your walking pace.

Hours and closures

Standard hours are 8:45–17:10, last entry 17:00. Closed January 1–3. Evening hall events do not mean the museum’s regular exhibits stay open late.

Admission and choosing tickets

The current official page lists adults ¥350 and university students ¥150, with schoolchildren through high school free. Check student-ID requirements. The monthly 16th-day free-entry offer is for Sapporo residents with address proof, not all travellers.

Children, access and luggage

For entrance steps, contact staff using the intercom by the main gate if assistance is needed. A dedicated lift serves the second floor; ask about stroller handling. The toilet is in a separate building reached via a short outdoor section.

The preserved building has no air conditioning and may still feel cold indoors in winter. There are no coin lockers for large bags; consider hotel storage first. An area for leaving bags is not a storage guarantee.

Before and after your visit

Try the Clock Tower interior, the Odori/TV Tower area, then a meal or hotel break. Shorten park walking in heavy snow and check each attraction’s own admission and closing time.

This order is a JapanPin planning suggestion. Check travel times, opening and reservations for your date.

Common questions

Are the Clock Tower and Sapporo TV Tower different?

They are separate attractions: a historic building and museum versus the observation tower by Odori Park. Check each address and ticket separately.

Is it a warm indoor break in winter?

Do not assume shopping-mall conditions. Official guidance notes winter indoor temperatures and the outdoor toilet connection, so keep your winter layers with you.
