Getting there
Use Tanimachi 4-chome on the Tanimachi or Chuo line, near Exits 2 and 9. The museum and Osaka Castle tower have different entrances; search the museum address for your final walk.

Hours and closures
Standard hours are 9:30–17:00, last entry 16:30. Closed Tuesdays, or the next working day when Tuesday is a holiday, and December 28–January 4. Check the calendar for exceptions.
Admission and choosing tickets
Permanent galleries: adults ¥600, high-school/university students ¥400, junior-high pupils and younger free. Special exhibitions cost extra. Check exhibition coverage and required proof before relying on a concession.
Children, access and luggage
Strollers are normally allowed, but crowded galleries may restrict them. Ask the ground-floor information desk about loan strollers and the nursing room. Free child admission does not cover accompanying adults.
Ground-floor lockers use a refundable ¥100 coin. Ask the desk about larger bags and check capacity and size limits on arrival. This does not mean food is allowed in the galleries.

The separate Osaka Museum of Housing and Living has announced a September 1, 2026–January 5, 2027 closure. This is not a closure of the History Museum.

Focus on one area: museum, a castle-area walk if conditions suit, then a meal. Shorten the outdoor part in rain and leave a separate travel allowance if returning to Namba or Umeda for dinner.

Is this the Osaka Museum of Housing and Living?
They are different museums. The History Museum is near Tanimachi 4-chome and Osaka Castle; Housing and Living is near Tenjimbashisuji 6-chome. Check the separate temporary-closure notice.
Does this ticket include Osaka Castle?
Being in the same area does not make the tickets interchangeable. Check the facilities and exhibitions covered by your ticket and plan castle-tower admission separately.
