Getting there

Osaka Metro's guide estimates three minutes from Namba Exit 14. Find Ebisubashi, then check the route down to the river. This is the operator's walking estimate; allow for your exit and pedestrian traffic.

Tips for your visit

  • Editor's suggestion: walk the river by day, or plan after sunset for illuminated signs. Lighting and events can change on the day.
  • Editor's suggestion: leave bridge and stair entrances clear for photographs; inspect the way down first if using a stroller or carrying large bags.

Check with official sources

What will you see?

The area combines Dotonbori's large signs with riverside views. Tombori Riverwalk runs close to the water. Ebisubashi is a useful meeting and navigation reference. The photograph shows the location for reference.

Namba stations have different starting points

The official guide estimates five minutes from Midosuji Line Namba Station and ten from Nankai Namba Station. Allow for the exit you use and pedestrian traffic: stations sharing the Namba name are not one identical starting point.

Check shops and cruises separately

Plan the walk separately from meals or a river cruise. Shops set their own hours and closed days. Night views do not mean cruises or events run throughout the night. Area guide: Related official information ↗

Choose your onward direction

One suggested order is a Namba meal or event, then the river, then Shinsaibashi-suji. Check the direction of your hotel or return station first to avoid unnecessary backtracking.

On arrival

Follow current event and pedestrian signs. Leave room for others near bridges and steps when taking photographs. In rain or with large bags, inspect the route down to the promenade before committing to it.
